acquisition strategy: she oversees the
budget, negotiations, contract administration,
and fi eld operations across
all three operating divisions. Her ongoing
efforts to provide Comcast's Xfi nity
customers with the programming and content they desire
may seem tireless, but Gaiski seems to thrive on surmounting
hurdles. A successful career is " when you look forward to each
day's challenges with excitement, " she says, noting that balance
is important, too. " Make each moment count, particularly

20. Cyma Zarghami

Nickelodeon
After all the heat Nickelodeon took
a few years ago in Viacom's ratings
slide, Zarghami has to feel good
knowing that the kids net's higher ratings
is driving revenue for the company.
CEO Philippe Dauman recently
declared that the network is on its way back, crediting new live
action and animated shows that Zarghami and her team have
nurtured. And Zarghami continues to fi nd ways to bring new
viewers to Nick. In September, Nick debuted " NickSports, "
a primetime programming block on Nicktoons launch with
the help of NFL, MLS, NASCAR and WWE. It may be a kid's
world, but Zarghami certainly knows how to play in it.
21. Marjorie Kaplan

Discovery Channel, TLC & Animal Planet
As part of the Women In Entertainment
Mentorship, Kaplan mentors
inner-city girls, but she also applies
those leadership skills to her staff. " If
I enjoy and empower and develop
a team of talented people... that's
a successful career, " she says. This recent inductee into the
Cablefax Hall of Fame presided over record-high ratings for
Animal Planet's beloved Puppy Bowl in February, as well as
helped usher TLC to the No. 5 ad-supported Primetime cable
network among Women 25-54, up from No. 9 last year.

Sams' legal counsel and oversight
make her a key player in all of
Turner's acquisitions and joint ventures.
She deals with production and
clearance content for the company's
news, entertainment and animation
networks. As 2015 approaches, Sams will continue to oversee
Turner's legal matters worldwide as she directs a large
team of lawyers located throughout the world in such locales
as Atlanta, Los Angeles, London, Hong Kong, Seoul, Sydney
and Buenos Aries. A gifted negotiator, Sams is an expert at
managing confl ict.
23. Michele Ganeless
President
Comedy Central
Big accomplishments this year for
Ganeless include the launch of
Comedy Central's TV Everywhere
app, which was downloaded more
than 1 million times in its fi rst month
of availability. Next up will be making
sure the net doesn't suffer following Stephen Colbert's move
to " The Late Show " on CBS. Ganeless and team will launch
" The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore " to take over the net's
coveted 11:30p.m. timeslot. Her tip for maintaining personalprofessional
life balance? " Have a great team to share the
work with; spend the time upfront to build the relationships
and trust that make it work, " she says.

Viacom
It has not been the easiest year for
Denson and her team. In April, Cable
One and some smaller operators
dropped Viacom's suite of networks.
In October, Suddenlink followed suit.
But Denson hasn't let those setbacks
slow her down. Her team most recently wrapped up a multiyear
renewal with Verizon. Denson also turned heads when
Viacom became the fi rst programmer to publicly announce a
deal with Sony's forthcoming cloud-based TV service, marking
the company's fi rst-ever agreement to provide its networks
for an Internet-based live TV and VOD service. It's clear that
Denson will be one of the leaders in the new art of the deal.
