More of the Most Powerful Women in Cable 2014
Tana Jamieson
SVP
A+E Studios
Jamieson believes cable
scripted programming
is at the top of its game,
and this year she segued
from overseeing scripted
for fl agship A&E to developing and producing shows
for History, Lifetime, A&E and elsewhere from her
new perch at A+E Studios. Not only did she launch
the second season of " Bates Motel, " A&E's highestrated
scripted program to date, but she also helmed
" The Returned " series. " When that female writer or
showrunner comes a-knockin', remember they may
have a creative edge tapping into the 51 percent of
the population that are women! " she says.
Liz Janneman
EVP, Ad Sales
Ovation
Janneman has tripled
ad sales revenue since
coming to the network
in 2009 with a resume
that included Current TV,
Weather Channel, and AOL/Time Warner, where she
is credited with doubling ad sales revenues at TNT
and TBS to more than $1 billion annually. She believes
cable can support women further by " putting
them front and center as the voice of empowerment.
By giving them the voice and the stage for their
thoughts, opinions and expertise they will be heard
and recognized. "
Marva Johnson
Corporate VP,
Government and
Industry Affairs
Bright House
Networks
The thing that most excites
Johnson about the cable
industry is " the world of possibilities we enable for
everyone through broadband connectivity. " She joined
Bright House in 2006, taking on the diffi cult task of
evaluating and driving regulatory policy associated with
the company's technological infrastructure, service
delivery and long-term strategy. She used to think that
career was defi ned by corporate title. Once she learned
the career jungle gym is better than the career ladder,
she began to measure her professional success based
on whether it fuels her motivation by allowing her to
accomplish signifi cant things with a rich and meaningful
work experience.

Becky Jones
SVP, Marketing &
Research
Viamedia
Upped to her new post
in April, Jones recently
launched the automated
measurement service for
national TV advertisers Placemedia as well as a new
company website for advertisers and partners. Passionate
about mentoring and cultivating new talent
with a focus on diversity, Jones is one of the company's
trainers. " I fi nd success in the accomplishments
of those I infl uence, " she says. " A successful
career to me means an entire team is successful, not
just one person. "
Loretha Jones
Creative Consultant
BET Networks
After successfully ushering
in BET Networks'
move to scripted with
shows such as " Being
Mary Jane, " Jones exited
her post as president of original programming this
year. But she's staying on as a creative consultant-
important as BET gears up for its fi rst-ever miniseries
" The Book of Negroes. " Outside of work, you're
likely to fi nd her vacationing in Miami or partaking in
her new favorite sport, golf.
Lindsay Johnston
SVP, Operations
SCTE
Since joining SCTE in
early 2014, Johnston
has improved project
management, strengthened
its relationship with
WICT and created new memberships models for
the association's new Corporate Alliance Program.
Johnston says cultivating women engineers comes
down to embracing STEM initiatives and taking on
Yvette Kanouff's challenge articulated at the SCTE
Cable-Tec Expo 2014 " that every man in cable mentor
one woman in the industry to drive career growth
within our existing workforce. "
Superna Kalle
SVP & GM, U.S.
Networks
Sony Pictures
Entertainment
Kalle led the launch of
the classic-fi lm themed
getTV, the company's
fi rst digital broadcast network, as a sub-channel
on Univision-owned stations and others. Moreover,
she has secured carriage for the net with Cox Media
Group and Sinclair Broadcast Group. She advises
having one calendar that combines work and family
commitments, and plenty of exercise to manage
stress. " It seems hard to fi t in, but the benefi ts are
profound, " she says.
Nancy Kanter
EVP, Original
Programming;
GM, Disney Junior
Worldwide
It's been a banner year
for Disney Junior and
Kanter. In its fi rst year
reporting Nielsen ratings, the 24-hour channel stood
as TV's No. 1 preschool-dedicated network. What's
more, series favorites including " Sofi a the First "
" Doc McStuffi ns " and " Jake and the Never Land
Pirates " are not only being embraced on screens
but across all Disney businesses including resorts
and consumer products. Kanter is also a dedicated
leader, defi ning a successful career as " knowing that
when you choose to leave there is a team of people
you trained who will carry the business forward to
even greater success. "
Kathy Kayse
EVP, Advertising
Sales
OWN: Oprah Winfrey
Network
Hired by OWN two years
before the network's
2011 launch, Kayse leads
an advertising juggernaut: OWN's ad revenue was
up 23 percent for the fi rst quarter of 2014, and an
impressive 90 new advertisers purchased time on
the network during the past year. When she steps
away from the offi ce it's often into the quiet of her
garden, " a place where I can nurture my soul, " or to
spend time with the two foster children she and her
partner adopted.
