Top Women in Technology
Rebecca Rusk Lim
VP, Interactive
Experience
Turner Broadcasting
Lim, a translator
between technology and
marketing, is recognized
as one of the top creative and consumer
experience leaders in the interactive media
industry. Her expert knowledge and skills are
unique in that she has designed and deployed
leading products for interactive, mobile, broadband,
on demand, broadcast and connected
devices. Over the past 20-plus years she has
helped create and manage some of the most
innovative start-ups, user interfaces and new
technology services for broadcast, broadband,
international and pay TV.
Christy Martin
Principal
iBox Systems
Martin's unique ability to
synthesize market, technology
and operational
requirements into concise
solutions has helped make her a pioneer
in interactive media with more than 20 years
of experience spanning consumer applications
and distribution platforms. Since founding iBox
Systems in 2004, she has conducted industry
research, led multi-stakeholder integrations
and developed new product strategies,
technology evolution plans, system architectures
and content monetization solutions.
She thrives in early stage ventures where she
can translate diverse business, technical and
operational requirements into commercial
products and services.
Vicki Marts
Director, Video
Operations
Cox
Marts began her cable
career in 1985 shortly
after moving to Wichita,
KS. She has worked her way through the ranks
as an installer, service technician, systems
technician, technical supervisor, and digital
services supervisor. She earned the honor of
becoming the fi rst female to certify in SCTE's
BCT/E certifi cation program.

Susan McLaughlin
VP, Strategic Sales
TOA Technologies
McLaughlin has worked
in cable and technology
for most of her career,
striving to help cable
operators improve effi ciency, customer service
and their competitive position. A major focus
for her over the next year will be to help TOA's
customers determine how to transition capacity
management out of the customer care and billing
systems to the mobile workforce management
function. " Cable offers many wonderful
programs and resources for women once they
are in the industry, but could improve in supporting
future members, " she says.
Stephanie Mitchko-Beale
CTO
Cross MediaWorks
A successful career to
Mitchko-Beale is " when
you pause, look at where
you are, where you have
been, where you want to go and think, 'I am
exactly where I am supposed to be.' " Prior to
joining Cross MediaWorks, she was SVP of video
infrastructure software at Cablevision. During her
15 years at Cablevision, she pioneered deployment
of advanced advertising applications such as
telescoping, addressable targeting and dynamic ad
insertion. She also developed e-commerce sites
supporting online distribution of modems and,
recently, cloud-based DVR systems.
Emily Nikoo
EVP
Blonder Tongue
Laboratories
Nikoo has undying
interest, motivation, and
perseverance, and she
knows how to break through barriers to achieve
her goals and the goals of the people she works
with. This die-hard tennis fan has gone to the
U.S. Open every year since moving to New
Jersey in 1995, which is particularly interesting
because the event uses Blonder Tongue
equipment for its video distribution, which gave
her behind-the-scenes access. Her best trick for
maintaining the personal-professional life balance
is " be yourself and be true to yourself. "
November 2014
Pam Nobles
Director, Education and
Certification
SCTE
Those working in cable
need to realize that
supporting the industry's
women in a male-dominated industry is
a culture change, and culture change takes
time, says Nobles: " Many may not realize how
unsupportive their beliefs and actions come
across. " Nobles has extended SCTE training to
community colleges and trade schools, using
SCTE's Broadband Premises Installation and
Service guidebook as the textbook for a broadband
cable class. A published author in various
cable trades, she is decidedly passionate about
technical training and operations.
Kimberly Norris
COO
Viamedia
Say hello to one of
the chief innovators
in ad technology and
advanced advertising,
as Norris has helped evolve and transform advanced
advertising. Her extensive background
and knowledge in both addressable advertising
and set-top data analytics and reporting have
defi ned new metrics and set new expectations
for the TV advertising industry as a whole.
Karen Painter
SVP, Media Software &
Services
Turner Broadcasting
A math whiz as a child
and in college, Painter
was among few women
who majored in computer science at the
time. Now she leads the Media Software
and Services team and last year gained
added accountability for the project management
organization within Turner's global
technology operations team. Known for her
exceptional project management skills, she
leads strategic technology operations, global
and enterprise applications development,
technology infrastructure operations and
software development, project management
and operations for Turner's innovative digital
media properties.
