More of the Most Powerful Women in Cable 2015
Friday Abernethy
SVP, Content
Distribution
Univision
Upon joining Univision
in April 2014, Abernethy
reset the strategic
direction of the content
distribution sales team with a focus on national
accounts to better align with industry changes. Proof
of the successful strategy can be found in a host of
new partnerships and platforms, including SlingTV
and go90. " Time doesn't equate to balance, " she
says of juggling career and home life.
Orly Adelson
President & CEO
Orly Adelson
Productions
Now head of her own
company, Adelson recently
exited as president
of ITV Studios America.
There she increased the company's sales to cable
and broadcast networks signifi cantly, counting
shows like NBC's " Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick
Harris, " Fox's " Hell's Kitchen " and A&E's " The First
48 " as a few of her successes. Mentoring, she says,
is about " leading by example, and helping to nurture
the notion that they can attain their dreams. "
Sheryl Anderson
EVP, Human
Resources &
Administration
Starz
" Technology has been
the biggest area of
growth for women, as
well as engineering, and has offered tremendous opportunity
to women, " says Anderson. And she should
know. Twenty-four years at Starz, this HR maven
has responsibility for more than 1,000 employees
worldwide and continues to reset the bar, including
implementing a new performance management
system for optimizing the reviews process.
Stephanie Anderson
SVP & Chief
Marketing Officer,
Business Services
Time Warner Cable
Anderson develops
strategic marketing plans
to directly support TWC's

value proposition and objective with a goal of generating
$5 billion in revenue in business services by
2018. The busy mother of four also writes children's
stories and is a musician, singer and songwriter.
When mentoring, her best tips are " listening and not
being all about comparing your experience to your
mentee. "
Darcy Antonellis
CEO
Vubiquity
Under Antonellis's watch,
Vubiquity is experiencing
unprecedented
growth, expanding its
reach from 39 to 117
countries. She's led the strategic acquisitions of
service provider Juice Worldwide and automation
system Digital End-To-End. And, she's responsible
for partnerships with content providers like Turner,
in which the companies created a technology to
distribute content in the on demand market. Antonellis
believes the tech sector has the most growth
potential for women in cable. " Strong developers
and product innovators, male or female, remain in
the highest demand. "
Theano Apostolou
EVP, Communications
Starz
Plans are in place for
Starz to increase its
originals investment
to 85-90 episodes by
2017, and Apostolou
will be leading communications on all new, as well
as existing, programming. She is a fi rm proponent
of gender equality across the industry. " There is an
urgent need for women in our industry to unite and
assert their infl uence for gender and pay equality, "
she says.
Rebecca Arbogast
SVP, Global Public
Policy
Comcast
Arbogast is often
asked to contribute her
expertise and insight on
communications policy
and regulation at events outside the company. The
best-but toughest-trick in order to maintain a
work-personal life balance is to say no, she says.
" Learn to trust the competence of the people sitting
next to you. "
November 2015
Maria G. Arias
VP, Diversity &
Inclusion
Comcast
Arias' team provides
the entire governance
structure, strategy and
implementation oversight
for Comcast's diversity and inclusion strategy-a
strategy that earned the company a spot in the
DiversityInc Top 50 this year. Under her guidance,
Comcast also expanded its internal diversity efforts
to include a heightened focus on veterans, people
with disabilities and members of the LGBT community
with the launch of voluntary employee selfidentifi
cation forms. And she's at work developing
an extension of the company's Master Strategic Plan
for Diversity, an internal roadmap of initiatives and
tracking mechanisms launched in 2011.
Beth Arnholt
VP, Integrated Talent
Management
Comcast/
NBCUniversal
Arnholt creates partnerships
across Comcast
NBCU that focus on
shared talent priorities. " I wouldn't put any restrictions
on growth areas for women, " she says. " Demonstrate
agility-blur the lines across silos and show
that you are able to take on new challenges outside
of your classic area of expertise. " She serves as a
" Big Sister " in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program
and mentors in the Women of Tomorrow Mentor and
Scholarship Program.
Janice Arouh
President, Networks
Distribution &
Marketing
Entertainment
Studios Networks
MVPD deals are always
top of mind for Arouh,
and she scored big this year, adding more than 25
distribution partners for Entertainment Studios'
seven hi-def networks. Arouh oversee sales strategy,
national accounts, contractual negotiations, affi liate
relations and sales operations for the company,
and also serves on the senior executive team for
business development, which forms strategies for
mergers and acquisitions, and develops business
plans for the launch of new platforms.
