survival hit " Naked and Afraid, " Discovery
Channel's " Naked and Afraid XL " dispatches
12 hardened survivalists on a grueling 40day
challenge in the blistering badlands of
equatorial Colombia. There, the dozen get
divided into groups of three and stripped of
clothing, food and water, and left with only
their wits and strength to meet the challenges
of this hostile environment. Eventually, four
of these tough-as-nails survivalists give
up, leaving the remainder to complete an
arduous trek across a beautiful and brutal
landscape toward eventual rescue by the
Colombian Navy. As Discovery Channel wrote
in its submission, " the structure, premise,
and most of all, the truth and authenticity
of the series captivated viewers. " Consider
us also stripped bare of clothes-based
assumptions as we revel in this study in
unabashed nakedness.
