ork. It's an interesting concept. We spend most of our lives doing it, and yet most
of us would stop if we could. Of course, our desire for food and shelter overrides
our dream of doing nothing-and we endure the spreadsheets, meetings and that
chronic cubicle cackle that cuts through the air like a car alarm. We keep on working. Even
for those of us who truly love what we do understand that it's not all fun. There are tough
moments, days, weeks and even years. Everyone's working overtime. Sleep deprivation
is the new black. Slackers don't survive. And in this kind of competitive and unforgiving
environment, only one thing makes work tolerable and often even a joy: Great companies
with great people. That's it. No hurdle or hardship is too difficult when we're surrounded by
incredible colleagues and managers who challenge us to be our best, give us the tools to
grow and grant us the power to create our own destinies and drive the business forward.
The companies listed here represent the spirit that attracts the best employees. Whether
it's diversity initiatives, advancement opportunities or other factors, we used myriad criteria
to compile our 2012 picks of the best places to work in cable. We salute these companies,
and we salute cable's employees who work hard and make it happen every day.
