THE LEADERS
nel and veterans, as well as members of other minority
groups, " he says. " Although we've made that a top priority
as a company, for me it's about providing the necessary
mentoring and professional development opportunities
that give our employees greater access to positions
with influence and powerful decision-making. "
91. Tony Maldonado
VP, Marketing, Retention & Base
Management
Cox Communications
Maldonado leads design and implementation
of Cox's enterprise-wide
strategic segmentation, and drives
customer marketing to embrace a
highly personalized approach. In addition to being analytical
and having a wide range of relevant industry experience,
Maldonado has a sincere passion to serve the business,
values transparency, and proactively partners to build and
maintain long-term relationships across Cox and the MSO
community. A graduate of the Kaitz Fellowship program,
he is committed to advancing minority achievements and
hiring throughout Cox and the greater industry. His most effective
mentoring strategy? " Deep refl ection on the lessons
I've learned from those who've mentored me and how to
pass those on to others; in short-pay it forward! "
92. Tina Perry
EVP, Business & Legal Affairs
OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network
Perry has helped usher OWN deeper
into scripted programming territory.
For instance, she cut the deal for
the new series from Mara Barak
Akil, titled " Love Is __, " and was
behind renewals of both " Queen Sugar " and " Greenleaf. "
She's incredibly proud of OWN's success-and rightly so,
as she joined the network two years prior to its launch and
is now a senior executive team member. " Diversity must go
further than blanket numbers tied to ethnic, gender or sexual
orientation make-up, " she says. " The 'numbers game' is not
a diversity fi x, as organizations must believe in diversity as an
intrinsic value and then put it into practice. "
93. Devesh Raj
SVP, Strategic & Financial
Planning
Comcast Corporation
One of Raj's main responsibilities
is to drive corporate strategy and
partner with business units across
Comcast and NBCUniversal. Those
might be market development opportunities focused on business
and geographic expansion or long-range planning for

the business portfolio. During the past year, Raj and his team
have developed strategies for Comcast's next generation
networks, and collaborated with business units across the
company to address some of the industry's toughest issues.
" I think of diversity on a team as diversity of viewpoints-
driven by gender and ethnicity but also by background, training,
prior work, upbringing, and life experiences, " says Raj.
94. Dalila Wilson-Scott
SVP, Community Investment
Comcast Corporation
President
Comcast Foundation
Not only is Wilson-Scott one of Comcast's
top female executives, she's
instrumental in Comcast NBCUniversal's
community outreach, philanthropic and corporate
responsibility initiatives. In April, the annual Comcast Cares
Day saw 105,000 corporate volunteers contribute more
than 600,000 hours of service to work 1,000-plus projects
across the globe. Wilson-Scott is always fi nding creative new
ways to use the company's media and technology to benefi t
struggling communities. As a mentor, she says it's important
to share failures as well as successes because vulnerabilities
make people more relatable. Her advice to mentees: " Pursue
mentors that bring entirely different perspectives than you
might bring-not ones that will always agree with you. "
95. Elizabeth Casanas
SVP, Human Resources
Showtime Networks
Casanas orchestrates a wide range
of human resources activities for
Showtime, and recently she implemented
company-wide management
training programs. Her program that
has senior leadership speak with employees over breakfast
or lunch helps encourage mentorship. " Mentoring is a delicate
relationship, " she says. " The most effective strategies
are the sincere desire to help a more junior person succeed
and be totally honest with them. " Casanas also is on the front
lines of the hiring process, giving her the opportunity to foster
diversity at the company. Outside the offi ce, she is committed
to causes that help children and senior citizens.
96.
John Hsu
EVP, Corporate Development &
Treasurer
AMC Networks
AMC continues to bend in the direction
of owning more of its content
rather than licensing it, and Hsu is
a chief architect of the company's
progress. In the coming year, he'll stay the path of identifySeptember
