he 2022-2023 fiscal budget for most health facilities has now been approved.
Leaders across the board are facing unprecedented challenges with
retaining their staff. And those leaders who choose to invest on their teams'
professional development are seeing the best results.

Most, if not all, facilities have a bucket set aside for educational expenses. All of
the educational funding requested will be available to spend starting on September
1, 2022. Leaders should make a long-term, quarterly plan for capital expenditure to
fortify their staff's learning needs for the upcoming year and capitalize on the available
opportunities for education and professional development.
Here are some suggestions for where to start:
* All mid-level managers and select C-Suite directors attend the OR Manager Conference.
*
All mid-level managers and department heads attend sessions on staff retention
and resilience.
* All staff attend courses on mindfulness and self-care.
* Acquisitions and materials managers are empowered to learn about and advocate
for new robotic program.
* All staff have dedicated time reserved to participate in webinars and attend
other virtual sessions.
Assuming a $50,000 total amount of educational dollars to use in the 2022-
2023 fiscal year, consider the suggested expenditure plan below to effectively educate
and advance your OR staff:
