DATA COLLECTION
In order to aid content validity (Anastasi, 1988), an intake questionnaire and a
semi-structured interview protocol were developed by the research team and a panel of
experts. The intake questionnaire contained demographic questions, along with those
about the self-reported use of NACE competencies within the context of residential life
(e.g., Have you submitted a work order? Have you completed a roommate agreement?).
The panel of experts comprised housing and residence life professionals, career service
professionals, and graduate and undergraduate students who had experience with
either residence life or assessing NACE competencies. Semi-structured interviews
are flexible and allowed the research team to better understand the perspective of the
