GULFSTREAM AEROSPACE received a type certificate for the large-cabin, ultra-long-range G550 from the South African Civil Aviation Authority. The approval allows operators to register their business jet in South Africa. “Gulfstream’s presence in Africa has grown dramatically, particularly in South Africa, which accounts for 24 percent of the entire Gulfstream fleet in Africa,” said SCOTT NEAL, senior vice president, sales and marketing. “Having this certification is important to our growing customer base, because it streamlines the registration process for our South African operators.” ● In other news... Gulfstream Aerospace Corp.’s ultra-large-cabin, ultra-long-range Gulfstream G650 business-jet aircraft received a type certificate from the FAA. The certification verifies the airworthiness of the aircraft’s design. Gulfstream expects to deliver the first fully outfitted G650 business jets to customers before year-end. The company has received more than 200 orders for the aircraft. “We designed the G650 with significant input from our advanced technology customer advisory team, and we’re extremely proud of what our entire organization has accomplished with this aircraft,” said Gulfstream’s president, LARRY FLYNN. nance, repair and overhaul facility headquartered at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, announced the opening of its new service center in Las Vegas, Nev., at McCarran International Airport. “The 30,000-square-foot facility has been staffed with 30 technicians, of which 100 percent have been factory trained in at least two of its niche airframes – Embraer Legacy 600, Citation X, Challenger 300, Hawker 800XP, Embraer Phenom 100/300, Beechjet 400A/XP and Piaggio,” said KEVIN DILLON, Constant Aviation’s vice president of operations. “We have relocated personnel to provide job shadowing to build our Constant culture within the facility. The culture we have built over the last nine years is the foundation to our team member’s passion to strive for excellence in everything we do.” ● In other news... Constant Aviation announced the completion of the STC for the complete Wi-Fi system along with Aircell’s Gogo Biz In-flight Internet system in the Hawker series aircraft. The completion of this STC marks the fourth Wi-Fi STC completed in 2012. Constant Aviation also has completed STCs for the installation of Aircell’s Gogo Biz In-flight Internet System, including Wi-Fi in the Gulfstream IV, Legacy 600, Citation X, Phenom 300, EMB135 Shuttle and the EMB135LR. Currently, the STCs for the Beechjet 400A/XP and the 737 Business Jet are in the final stages with the FAA pending approval.
