According to the company, Astronics’ LED lighting solution replaces the aircraft’s existing filament-based lighting system with a high-reliability, 10,000-hour average life solution, reducing maintenance costs and power consumption while providing wide beam, taxi and deeper downfield

illumination in the airport environment. “Customer interest in LED lighting for the King Air family has been robust, and we’re excited to work with Astronics to bring this capability to the market,” said Christi Tannahill, Hawker Beechcraft senior vice president, Global Customer Support. “These new lights will provide our owners and operators with a best-in-class landing and taxi lighting solution.” In addition, the company announced it is accepting orders for the synthetic vision system upgrade for all Pro Line 21-equipped Beechcraft King Air 200/300 series aircraft. According to the company, the upgrade for this platform is scheduled for entry into service in March 2013. Hawker Beechcraft and Rockwell Collins entered into an agreement last year that will provide all Hawker and Beechcraft models with the upgrade package, which offers safety and capability improvements by

adding synthetic vision data to existing Pro Line 21 displays. Follow-on certifications for the remainder of the platforms are expected to occur throughout 2013. “Synthetic vision is a significant safety upgrade that provides a clear vision forward for flight crews in all weather conditions, underscoring our commitment to increasing customer safety and expanding operational capability,” Tannahill said.

EMTEQ After EMTEQ introduced LED mood lighting to the market in 2006, the company announced it has sold more than 2,600 feet of its original QUASAR Full Spectrum Lighting. As a result, EMTEQ has evolved its QUASAR line of full spectrum mood lighting products and introduced QUASAR II. According to the company, QUASAR II advances mood lighting beyond what is currently available. Advances in LED technology allow the company to offer a smaller- and lighter-weight package while also increasing the intensity of the light. EMTEQ said that QUASAR II is changing the market in three ways. It is the first 115VAC RGBA full spectrum mood lighting system available to the market. EMTEQ’s original QUASAR wash light was introduced with 28VDC operating voltage, which allowed it to run off aircraft power on many business aircraft platforms. With the demand for mood lighting in the VVIP market, EMTEQ has designed the QUASAR II to be available in either 28VDC or 115VAC operating voltage. EMTEQ has designed QUASAR II with its Cabin Network Lighting Protocol. By making this a smart light, the company has eliminated the need for
