The GTS 8000 meets the most recent TCAS II/ACAS II standardization requirements, including Change 7.1 compliance, which will be mandated in many countries worldwide as early as 2014. “With air traffic expected to continue increasing at a rapid pace, pilots want to be sure they have the best equipment onboard to enhance safety and efficiency of their operations,” Wolf said. “The GTS 8000 provides pilots with that extra set of eyes to monitor surrounding traffic and the ability to offer commands to avoid immediate conflicts. Universal Avionics named Duncan Aviation as its 2012 Top Dealer North America award recipient. Universal Avionics annually recognizes one North American dealer out of several hundred in its authorized dealer network that has achieved outstanding sales performance. According to the company, the most essential factor to Duncan Aviation’s successful sales in 2012 is a renewed corporate team effort. It noted that Duncan Aviation has placed emphasis on consistent daily avionics prospecting, while building sales using relationship skills and total package capability. In addition, Universal Avionics named Scandinavian Avionics A/S (SA), the SA Group, as its 2012 Top Dealer International award recipient. Scandinavian Avionics A/S (SA), the SA Group, serves the civil aircraft industry with sales, installation and maintenance of avionics. According to the company, their skill and experience with Universal’s EFI-890R flight deck retrofits, on both regional airliners and corporate aircraft, was instrumental in their successful performance this year. Universal Avionics also announced it has completed flight test activities for the new AHS-525 Attitude Heading Reference System. According to the company, the TSO package for the AHS-525 is now in process of submittal to the FAA. All flight test activities have met or substantially exceeded FAA TSO requirements for performance. Additional testing for customer desired functions, such as in-flight realignment, are underway. “We are very pleased with flight test progress with the new AHS-525, as it has performed at or beyond expectations,” said Paul Damschen, Universal Avionics’ manager of airworthiness and product management. “We expect it to exceed customer expectations, and our confidence has allowed us to start using the AHS-525 in IMC flight conditions already.”

GlobalParts.aero GlobalParts.aero, a provider of aftermarket parts and services based in Augusta, Kan., announced it has added a new FAA-certified repair station and in-house, build-to-print parts manufacturing capabilities to its operations. The company also launched a new brand and expanded Web presence. “These moves allow us to broaden the support of our worldwide base of OEMs, business, charter and regional aircraft operators and provide them with a single, efficient and cost-effective parts solution,” said Malissa Nesmith, vice president and COO.

“This expansion also reflects the ongoing growth of our customer base beyond our original Raytheon and Hawker Beechcraft roots. We continue to value and service those clients, and we‘re pleased that we have also developed outstanding relationships with the industry’s full range of airframe manufacturers and their customers, as well. “The new repair station is fully certified by the FAA and already in operation. It allows us to have complete control over cost drivers, turn times and quality so that we can provide quick and competitive service to meet the needs of our customers. This will allow us to further expand our parts lists and control our inventories.” During it’s nearly 10 years of operation, GlobalParts.aero has steadily expanded its services. The company started as an authorized distributor of Raytheon Excess Inventory in 2003. GlobalParts.aero purchased a significant portion of inventory from the HBC Legacy division in 2007. Brad Vieux, director of business development, also pointed to the addition of GlobalParts.aero’s new manufacturing capabilities and the company’s ability to accommodate larger and more extensive machining projects. “We have acquired factory-new machines to provide buildto-print manufacturing, including a Makino Mag 1, a 5-axis horizontal machining center specifically designed for highproductivity machining of complex parts for aerospace,” Vieux said. “We can accommodate larger parts requirements — up to 60 inches — and work on hard metals, such as steel and titanium, as well as aluminum.” Finally, Globalparts.aero’s new brand and website underscored the company’s operational and service expansions. “When we incorporated in 2003, we went to the local office supply store and created our logo by cutting and pasting,” Nesmith said. “Originally, most of our customers just referred to us as ‘Global’ — the parts part was getting lost. Our name didn’t really reflect who we were or what we did. Now we’re emphasizing our core business and the industry in which we operate by combining the Global and Parts in the name and
