choose any color, from the standard cockpit grays and tans to more exotic shades, as well as a variety of finishes, including smooth mattes and wrinkled textures. “Powder coating is stronger and more durable than paint,” Robinson said. “It is more difficult to do a custom color match versus painting, but with powder coating the final product has a better, cleaner finish, with far fewer defects. A drawback is you can’t apply powder coating to plastic. So, to solve that, we stock custommatched touch-up paints in aerosol cans for plastic pieces and miscellaneous parts.”
Personalized Service Envision offers four service levels, ranging from simply producing a panel from a customer’s CAD design to providing a full turnkey solution that includes custom design work, CNC routing, powder coating, laser engraving and finishing. Envision can even coordinate details with a customer’s designated engineering representative to ensure form, fit, function, compliance and certification. “Some smaller startup shops might want us to handle the entire panel,” Robinson said. “A larger, advanced avionics shop might already have its own cutting machines, but maybe they don’t have finishing and engraving processes in-house,
so then we can offer individual-level processes to them. They can send us a panel, and we can powder coat and engrave it. We can work with them in any capacity they need, from cleaning up a hole here or there to remanufacturing the entire panel. Once it’s done, the panel is pristine. That’s the beauty of our business, the flexibility of how involved the customer wants us to be.” Robinson credits Envision’s warranty to the company’s rapidly growing success. “If the avionics shop is not 100 percent satisfied with the final product, then
