was nerdy rather than sporty as a child,” said Trig Avionics CEO Andy Davis. So, when it came to choosing a compulsory sport in school, Davis chose cross-country running, an activity he enjoys to this day. That and other decisions have served him well in his somewhat unplanned, but quite successful ascension to the role of chief executive officer of Trig Avionics. He was happiest when playing with computers as a boy in Leeds, England, so it was no surprise Davis chose to study computer science. He enrolled in the University of Edinburgh and enjoyed a year of schooling in a special partnership program with the University of Pennsylvania. Davis said he is dating himself with this confession, but when he was in Philadelphia, Sylvester Stallone’s “Rocky” made the run up the 72 steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art famous, and he would do the same dramatic run. Of course, like any true Philadelphian, even a temporary one, Davis enjoyed the Philly cheesesteaks. During this time, Davis said he never expected to be involved in aviation. “I had an uncle who had sailboats, and he taught me to sail as a teenager,” Davis said. “If anything, I could see myself in a sailboat, not in an airplane.” When he graduated from college, Davis went to work for Burroughs Machines, a huge company.
