prepare students for the AET. No books are in print for endorsements, but Avotek intends to correct this problem. Scheduled for publication later this summer is a text to guide students working toward an AET through basic electricity and electronics. The book starts with basic circuits and advances through wave shaping, oscillator and digital circuits. The text promises to be a popular and affordable way of preparing for the AET examination. Avionics: Beyond The AET, written by yours truly, is a book for those already holding an AET certification and are ready to add more NCATT endorsements. The book is currently in the production process. Beginning with a review of key AET concepts, the volume quickly moves to more advanced avionics material, including radio communication, and dependant and autonomous navigation. Two chapters are included for installation and integration. Furthermore, the book gives an overview of FAA and FCC regulations and human factors. For both AMTs and avionics installers, Avotek publishes Aircraft Wiring & Electrical Installation, which is one of the only books available detailing the intricacies of the wiring, terminations and connectors specific to aircraft installations. This volume provides practical information necessary to identify and install aircraft wiring and features information on soldering, coaxial cable, data bus cables and repair techniques. Enough reference material is included to make it a handy addition to a technician’s toolbox. Avotek also offers Avionics Training: System, Installation and Troubleshooting, by Len Buckwalter. This book covers more than two dozen avionics systems, from conventional avionics through the latest GPS, electronic instruments, satellite navigation and communication. Each chapter details a system, explains how it

works and describes how to install and troubleshoot it. Avotek recommends the book for students, training departments, A&P mechanics and engineers. One publication written for both engineers and technicians is Aircraft Instruments & Integrated Systems, by EHJ Pallett. This book covers operating theory and construction of instruments, including mechanical, electromechanical and electronic. The text includes detailed information on instruments (circular, straight and digital), scales, ranges and display technologies. Finally, Avotek scored a coup when it took over publishing rights for Avionics: Systems and Troubleshooting, from McGraw Hill, written by my colleague and experienced author, Dr. T. K. Eismin. This second edition brings added content focusing on new technologies and the latest aircraft developments. The book features a systems-level focus, covering advanced systems in a concise, easy to read format. Eismin’s book covers the many systems and technologies in service today. Eismin details a variety of modern glass cockpit systems and their installations, which are explained in this text written for the AMT student. It covers aircraft from Boeing and Airbus, as well as the newest corporate equipment, including Garmin. An instructor’s guide CD and student workbook are available as companion pieces. Avotek books are designed for both the laboratory and classroom environments. “If someone wants to take the AET or get additional endorsements, our series will help them prepare,” Stoltzfus said. Avotek has the experience and expertise necessary to prepare training materials on request. If a large avionics facility has an in-house training need, then Avotek is in position to assist the company to develop educational resources. q
