ROCKWELL COLLINS announced Turkish Airlines has
selected its EP-8000 image generation and newest liquid
crystal on silicon (LCoS) projection systems for its entire flight
simulation platform, which includes nine simulators. Deliveries
will occur later this year.
According to the company, the EP-8000 features an
advanced projection technology for producing high-fidelity
realism over large areas. By selecting the system for all of its
simulators, this realism, especially for airports, will be common
across all Turkish Airlines simulators for consistent training.
“The learning experience gained by trainees through the
high-fidelity realism of this state-of-the-art graphic system is
invaluable, and Turkish Airlines pilots will be better prepared for
real-life situations,” said LEANN RIDGEWAY, vice president
and general manager, simulation and training solutions for
Rockwell Collins.
Turkish Airlines also will realize lower cost of ownership
through commercial off-the-shelf components and software
programmable technology for all graphic rendering, and benefit
from instant access to Rockwell Collins’ support infrastructure
and sparing. Rockwell Collins’ EP-8000 image generation and
LCoS projection system is proven, having achieved Level
D certification from governing authorities on various flight
simulators.

EAGLE CREEK AVIATION SERVICES announced
it will be installing the new Garmin G1000 panel in a
privately-owned Twin Commander 900 based in New
Jersey. The installation includes RVSM certification.
The Garmin G1000 is an all-electronic glass panel
avionics display. It integrates all primary flight, navigation,
communication, terrain, traffic, weather and engine
instrumentation systems on a large 12.4-inch multifunction
display and two 10.4-inch primary flight displays.
Eagle Creek Aviation recently displayed the Garmin
G1000 at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wis. The installation
package was purchased by NEIL ROSOFF at the show.
Rosoff also recently purchased a Twin Commander 900
from Eagle Creek Aviation.
According to the company, the Garmin G1000 Twin
Commander displays engine data on the MFD, providing
a clean, integrated look. These new components provide
more data on demand and eliminate up to 350 pounds of
wiring and equipment. This total panel transformation also
includes all new fuel, oil and hydraulic system pressure
transducers and new engine fuel flow transmitters.
“I was moving out of a single-engine turboprop airplane
with the G1000 panel and wanted a plane with more range
and current technology in avionics,” Rosoff said. “Once I'd
decided to purchase the Twin Commander 900, I wanted
to be sure it also had the G1000 system. I particularly like
the G1000's map display, which I find very easy to use.”
Eagle Creek has begun installing the G1000. It is the
company's third G1000 installation. The company also
expects to receive its STC from the FAA in the next few
months.
