Century Flight Systems
CENTURY FLIGHT SYSTEMS, a
leading provider of autopilots for general aviation aircraft, announced it has
received an STC from the FAA for the
installation of its Century 4000 autopilot
in Cessna 182-series aircraft. Follow-on
certifications are expected to include
Saratoga PA32-301, 301T, PA32R-301
and 301T aircraft.
This initial STC covers the C4000
autopilot in 11 models of the Cessna 182
Skylane series, including the 182E, 182F,
182G, 182H, 182J, 182K, 182L, 182M,
182N, 182P and 182Q. Models with
Horton or Robertson STOL are included
within the STC. Approximately, 20,000
of these specific models of aircraft were
built between the years 1961-1985.
Century 4000 autopilot
The C4000 uses advanced digital and
analog circuitry to process position plusrate data to produce the most accurate
and comfortable flight dynamics available
in rough or smooth air. This, along with
the fact that position plus-rate autopilot
does not need to disengage in turbulent
air, makes for an autopilot that is safer
and more convenient to fly, according to
the company. Standard features include
GPS/VOR/LOC/LOC REV coupling,
fully automatic glideslope coupling from
above or below, selected angle intercept
capability when using an HSI (45 degree
intercepts using a DG), altitude hold,
voice prompter, attitude hold command,
autotrim or trim prompting.

EMPOWER product featuring the addition of USB charging capability for iPads,
phones and other tablet devices.
Leveraging Astronics’ nearly 20-year lineage and experience in cabin power
systems, the well-known and proven EMPOWER 28VDC to 115VAC
in-seat power supply now supports USB power in a configuration
unique to the industry. Each new EMPOWER 1215-30, 28VDC to
115VAC ISPS weighs more than 2 pounds and supports up to three
AC outputs and up to four DC USB outputs. The new EMPOWER
system boasts a customer-configurable solution to meet cabin and
cockpit power needs, allowing users to plug in devices and charge
with AC power, USB power or both, simultaneously.
To support the unique capability of the system, Astronics developed
a convenient dual outlet for both AC and USB charging and a USB
outlet that can be installed at separate locations.
