It took five months to receive the
original approval for Trig’s TT31 and
TT22 transponders. The next step involves expanding the approved model list and making the transponders
available to a number of different aircraft types. Currently, the TT31 STC
includes all early model Mooneys
while the TT22 STC includes the Pitts
S2-C. Other models will be added in
the near future.
“Our goal is to extend the applicability of these STCs to allow an affordable and effective ADS-B Out
solution to the majority of the pistonpowered, single-engine aircraft fleet,”
Mongeau said. “Many of these aircraft are equipped with basic avionics equipment. And, in many cases,
an expensive, highly integrated EFIS
solution is not the best fit for compliance with the 2020 mandate. We are
focusing on certified equipment combinations that make sense for these
folks.”
Looking back, the Peregrine team
is proud to have helped Trig cross the
finish line first.

to prove your engineering and certification prowess by entering into a race
of this nature is compelling to say the
very least,” Mongeau said. “Much
like any new technology in development, there are numerous bonuses to
being first to market. The race, while
heated, was more about the pride associated with demonstrating an organization’s ability to navigate unchartered and evolving waters as expeditiously as possible.” q
