manufacturers are investing in more
research and development, as evident
in the 27 new products, services and
enhancements unveiled during the
AEA Convention.
Just like you, the AEA is working
on new products and services, too.
During the convention, I announced
the brand new AEA Avionics Market
Report. This new report was created to
reflect the dollar value of the avionics
market. Before now, no such market
report existed.
The AEA Avionics Market Report
will report total aviation electronics
sales figures as reported to us directly
from participating avionics and
instrument manufacturers.
The information gleaned from this
market report will be used in our
legislative and regulatory activities to
spread the word to our elected officials
on the value of our market and the
economic importance we contribute
not only to the U.S. economy, but
around the world.
The data will be beneficial when
talking to the media, and to Wall
Street and venture capitalists who may
be considering an investment in our
industry.
I owe a big thank you to the 20
manufacturers that stepped up first
and were willing to participate in this
initial market report by submitting
their sales figures. The first number
we reported is admirable: $6.3
billion in total sales for 2012, based
on the sales data from 19 of those
20 manufacturers. There are many
more manufacturers yet to sign on
– we need the participation of those
original equipment manufacturers to
build a valuable report that accurately
reflects the value of our industry. The
