Instructor, Aviation Electronics Technology
(Avionics)
Avionics teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College are responsible for supporting
student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, and
modeling employability skills. This individual will develop, prepare and teach Aviation Electronics
Technology courses within the department. Faculty will also be responsible for advising and recruiting students and collaborating with business and industry partners to provide necessary training and
education. The faculty member must be able to demonstrate correct operation and supervise operation in all or most of the following areas listed: pneumatics, hydraulic and electric power tools,
sheet metal fabrication, composites, welding, and electronics equipment. The individual must also
meet Transportation Security Administration (TSA) badging requirements to function in the Airport
Operating Area at Piedmont Triad International (PTI) airport.

Minimum requirements:
Associate's degree in Aviation Systems or Aviation Electronics (Avionics) Technology from a
regionally accredited college/university

Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Mechanics Certificate with Airframe and
Powerplant ratings

Valid FCC General Radiotelephone Operator's License

*

Valid National Council of Aeronautics Transportation Technology (NCATT) certification or the
ability to attain it within one year of hire.

Three years recent documented experience in the avionics industry

Preferred requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Aviation or a related field from a regionally accredited college/university

Non-Destructive Testing and Composite Repair Certification

*

More than three years recent documented experience in the avionics industry.

Post-secondary teaching experience in Aviation Systems/Electronic Technology

*

Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes
