AEA SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

Lowell Gaylor Memorial Scholarship

Jonathan James of Duncanville, Texas, is
currently attending Tarrant County College
in pursuit of his A&P license. James plans to
complete his associate degree of applied science
and then complete the aviation maintenance and
electronics technology program that focuses
on avionics. A member of the AMT Society, James looks to
volunteer his time at Meacham Airport and the Fort Worth
Aviation Museum to add to his military and civilian aviation
experience. He was a helicopter mechanic in the U.S. Army
Reserve and an employee of Boeing working on the 747-800.

Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics Scholarship

Brittney Frizzell of Dearborn, Michigan, has
maintained a 4.0 grade point average since she
began the aviation maintenance program at the
Michigan Institute of Aviation and Technology.
Frizzell is working as a lead ramp agent at her
airport and studying to pass the FCC exam. She
has an interest in avionics and electronics, and she wants to fulfill her long-term goal of working in aviation maintenance.

The Stone Foundation Scholarship

Alex Hamberger of York, Pennsylvania, an
honor roll student throughout his entire high
school career, plans to attend Embry-Riddle
Aeronautical University and major in aviation
maintenance science. Hamberger has already
completed ground school and taken a few private flying lessons. He hopes to utilize the engineering and
design skills learned from participating in the ACE Design
Program and find a career restoring old planes or working for
an airplane manufacturer like Piper Aircraft.

Thomas J. Slocum Memorial Scholarship to Redstone College
Kacie Broemmelsick of Northglenn, Colorado,
whose goal is to work on helicopters, plans to
earn an avionics advanced electronics technology degree at Redstone College in Broomfield,
Colorado. Broemmelsick is currently working
full time while attending college and is maintaining a 4.0 grade point average.

Aeronautics and Technology
Monte Mitchell Memorial Scholarship to the AEA
International Convention & Trade Show

Keith Hendershot of Hyannis, Massachusetts,
is the inaugural recipient of this scholarship
honoring Monte Mitchell's service of more than
40 years to the Aircraft Electronics Association
and the general aviation industry. Hendershot
has been an avionics technician with Griffin
Avionics for more than five years and is described by his manager, James Griffin, as someone who performed like a veteran
technician from his first day. Hendershot received a full AEA
Convention registration to the 2014 AEA Convention, which
included travel and hotel expenses.

Rockwell Collins Scholarship

Maxwell Gale of Grand Rapids, Michigan,
ranks in the top 10 in his graduating class. He
has been a Boy Scout for more than 10 years
and is working toward the rank of Eagle
Scout. He plans to attend Western Michigan
University to pursue a degree in aviation
maintenance technology. After graduation, he plans to begin
his career as a mechanic's assistant at an FBO or possibly
an entry-level avionics line tech, then advance to work for
an airline or airplane manufacturer.

Cole Andrews of Ramona, California, plans to
pursue an associate degree of applied science
in aviation maintenance technology. He hopes
to rapidly advance in the aviation industry utilizing the design, fabrication and maintenance
skills he acquired while owning and operating
an off-road race team. Andrews has competed the last two
years in the Skills USA competition and placed in the top five
at the state and regional levels.

Universal Avionics Systems Corp. Scholarship

William Hernandez of Kissimmee, Florida, is a
sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and is
pursuing a Bachelor of Science in aviation maintenance science at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical
University. Hernandez has already completed
his first semester and made the honor roll. Upon
graduation, he plans to work for an aircraft manufacturer and
eventually open his own maintenance business. 
