alternate IFR options in remote northern areas.
Reaching more operators
Fast Air utilizes three hangars with some 50,000 square
feet of space for maintenance and aircraft storage, and
operates out of its own private executive/VIP terminal at
the Winnipeg International Airport. It's all in contrast to
the early days when Dylan Fast, chief executive officer
and owner, started Fast Air with just one aircraft.
"We've grown tremendously over the last 20 years,"
Lyons said. "I think it's because we've been flexible
enough to take advantage of every opportunity."
The company is now turning its attention and
maintenance resources to expanding the services it
provides to private and commercial operators.
"That market will be a big focus for us going
forward," said Lyons, who has 36 years of experience
in aviation and served in the armed forces working with
fighter aircraft and helicopters. "We want operators to
know they can come to us for their maintenance and
avionics service. We also offer full metal capabilities
within our structures department. We can support any
kind of upgrade.

"Our greatest strength is the King Air. We know those
airplanes very, very well. We also know the Gulfstream
150 and 200 quite well."
As with all aviation service centers, Fast Air's biggest
challenge is finding experienced avionics personnel. If it
could, the company would likely expand by 10 percent,
according to Lyons. For now, Fast Air is concentrating on
building partnerships and projects like the Garmin G1000cargo pod STC, and sharing its experience and expertise
with operators.
"We're always looking for people to work with
collaboratively," he said. "Canada is a good place to do
business right now. The Canadian dollar took a huge
tumble this year. It's 20 cents on the American dollar. For
labor savings, Canada is the place to go. Come see us.
