occupants. With this clarification, the simplified process to adopt Part 23 into AWM 523 should proceed. The timetable has not been determined. * The CAR 521 revision is progressing slowly. Over 1,000 items and comments have been identified from the NPA issued in 2015, and all of them need to be dispositioned. Given other workload and resources, the process to complete this has taken longer than expected. The TCCA has directed the Standards group to put dedicated resources to finish this with an online consultation process projected to start in March 2020. * TP 9155 is being updated to include details on a nonessential furnishings program. This revision will be issued by the end of 2019. * A new AC on ELT maintenance to provide guidance relating to the recently issued AWM 571 standards for ELTs is being prepared with an issue date by December 2019. * NPA and AC on undocumented parts - drafting stage. * An NPA on AME licensing is being prepared to publish in the next month. This will cover SFAR 41C requirements, photo IDs and validity. * An NPA on PRM interview requirements is being prepared to be issued in the spring of 2020. This will provide more detail on the requirements and be updated to current practices. * An AC on AMO training program is in development to replace AN C012. This should be seen in 2020. This is only a small picture of all the work in progress. Given the low staffing levels in the Standards group, you can see it is a big challenge to manage all the required changes. One thing to note is that the TCCA is working on some changes that will allow for more direct industry input on these changes and development of guidance and regulations in order to lower their burden. Stay tuned, as there should be a lot of activity over the next two years. Updates continued on following page avionics news * october 2019 19http://www.sandia.aero
