PS Engineering
Peter Campbell, vice president of engineering, briefed attendees at
AEA Convention on PS Engineering's latest offerings, which include
the PAC45A digital audio system for special-mission operations, the
PAC45J business aviation audio system and a range of accessories to help
customize installations.
Building on the success of its PAC45 audio controller - introduced
two years earlier at the AEA's 60th convention - the PAC45A is a
completely new, TSO'd
design "expanding on
the capabilities of the
original PAC45 in every
way," Campbell told

control-head architecture that
consolidates all audio wiring
in the avionics bay, up to four control heads are then installed in the cabin
as needed, requiring only a data connection back to the hub.
The PAC45A supports up to eight transceivers, plus another eight switched
receivers, as well as five unswitched inputs, a stereo entertainment input
and a SATCOM interface. It also comes standard with a Bluetooth interface
and remote antenna for cellphone and tablet connectivity. Thanks to PS
Engineering's exclusive arrangement with the U.S. Air Force, all eight comm
channels employ MultiTalker technology to spatially orient and help organize
the different audio sources in the user's headset, making it easier to understand
multiple inputs.
The PAC45A also incorporates an integrated aural alert system, according
to Campbell, with support for up to nine different alerts and powered
independently from the rest of the communications hub, for fail-safe operation.
The night-vision-compatible unit integrates separate 10-watt cabin and publicaddress speaker amplifiers and includes line-level and CVR outputs.
The company's PAC45J is a variant of the PAC45A, which offers navaid
voice and ident filtering plus native support for oxygen mask systems.
Accessories for both include a new headset adapter, the PRD60 warning
generator and a tactical radio adapter.
