Peterson further explained that among all of the
operational enhancements Forge delivers, the one that
he's most excited about is the way it can eliminate routine
tasks for pilots, dispatchers and maintainers.
Forge takes information from multiple areas and
combines them all on one, easy-to-manage dashboard.
A quick look at one screen and a business jet operator
knows the real-time status of each of its aircraft.
"We talked to operators and found that business
aviation is looking for something much more than just
a service provider of just megabytes and minutes,"
Peterson said. "They're looking for somebody who can
pull the best-in-class together and give them an integrated
view of all the elements. Business aircraft operators want
this type of data just as much as an airline."
A lower cost for high-speed connectivity
Onboard connectivity has become the lifeblood of
business aircraft. Cut off the internet, and you might as
well ground the airplane. Forge lets the operator see how
each of their aircraft's systems is performing in real time.

Because they can see the aircraft's location in respect to
satellite beam coverage, operators can immediately see
if a connectivity issue may be the result of the aircraft
passing through a blind spot. There are more of them than
you might expect.
"It's not unusual for these sorts of connections to drop
off and come back on again," Peterson said. "We can
look at the connection and quickly, down in the aircraft's
dashboard, see if the aircraft's connection has resumed. If
it doesn't, we can send a datalink message to the aircraft
and see if they've deliberately turned it off or if the
service needs to be resumed.
"You can just look at the dashboard and immediately
see where there's a problem. You can immediately
address it and don't have to wait for the squawk at the
end of the mission."
While that's a great tool to ensure passengers stay
connected, Peterson said that one of the new data
integration and control tools that Forge offers - and one
that has operators especially excited - is its ability to
provide real-time monitoring of the types of data that are
being used by the aircraft's passengers.
"The nice thing about monitoring the connectivity
is it's all real time," Peterson said. "We can check the
