Another trend Zanino noted is how operators
increasingly use their aircraft for meetings. Thanks to inflight connectivity, executives can meet in real time from
the safety of the aircraft cabin.
Today's modern in-flight connectivity products offer
the necessary throughput speeds and data stability for
streaming and communications capabilities while on
board. Those traits help make the passenger experience
virtually the same as what they're used to seeing with
a laptop, tablet or smartphone connection when on the
ground - a significant change from just a few years ago.
And in-flight connectivity stands poised for more
improvements thanks to the expansion of the latest
advance in ground-based connectivity - 5G.
Such advances should continue as these new
technologies expand and become more available.
In the vein, Gogo recently expanded its air-toground network to bring reliable connections down
to 3,000 feet above ground level. That change
offers passengers an additional 15 to 20 minutes of
connectivity on each flight, according to Gogo.
Additionally, Gogo unveiled Gogo Vision 360 -
a premium IFE service that features a compelling
and comprehensive suite of services, including an
upgraded 3D moving map.
Available with the newly released Avance 4.2
software update, Gogo Vision 360 is available for activation
via a call to Gogo customer care as a new service or as
a free upgrade for existing Gogo Vision customers with
a Gogo Avance L5, L3 or SCS system installed on their
aircraft. Activation automatically occurs over the air, with
no downtime.
Gogo Vision 360 offers unlimited streaming of ondemand movies, TV programming and news, along with
digital magazines and a state-of-the-art 3D moving map, all
at a fixed monthly price eliminating the unpredictability and
often high costs associated with in-flight streaming video
and audio.
Gogo's 3D moving map, delivered through a partnership
with FlightPath3D, delivers engaging, interactive flight
and travel information that can be displayed in a variety of
views. Additional highlights include:
Gogo Vision 360 users get access to 30 digital
magazines and a host of additional content, including an

entertainment lineup that includes unlimited viewing of
more than 150 of the latest Hollywood movie releases
and popular TV shows. Among the offerings are popular
Disney movies and TV programming; eMagazines and
news clips; and, coming soon, destination weather.

This AEA member unveiled an on-demand audio
optimization system for business-turbine aircraft
cabins, which allows controls for VIP listening, focused
bass and surround-sound conversion. The company also
unveiled its new ALTO 3D Immersive Audio Media
Zone system for installation in passenger cabins.

Textron Aviation
Textron Aviation highlighted the new King Air 260
that combines the platform's rich history of rugged
reliability and versatility with state-of-the-art upgrades
and next-generation capability, as well as a greater ease
of flying. Among the enhancements are the addition of the
Innovative Solutions & Support ThrustSense Autothrottle
and a new digital pressurization controller. The 260's
flight deck also delivers Collins Aerospace's Multi-Scan
weather radar system as a standard feature.
Textron Aviation also announced STC approval of the
IS&S ThrustSense Autothrottle on Pro Line Fusionequipped Beech King Air 200 turboprop twins, as well as
a standard feature on new-production Beechcraft King Air
260 turboprops. STC approval on Pro Line 21-equipped
King Air 300-series propjet twins is expected soon. q
