Muncie Aviation's main center includes three large hangars, three service bays, offices and an area for the line service department, totaling 50,000 square
feet. The company also owns another 100,000 square feet that's used for maintenance, offices, storage, aircraft hangars and the airport restaurant.

With an in-house CNC machine, technicians are able
to design and custom fabricate panels and laser engrave
them. In addition to avionics, Muncie Aviation offers
routine aircraft maintenance and annual inspections as
well as borescope inspections, compressor washes, prop
balances and Blackhawk engine upgrades. The company's
extensive parts inventory includes more than 10,000 parts
in stock.

Fueling success
During its nearly 90 years, Muncie Aviation has
weathered some of the country's most difficult moments,
including the Great Depression, World War II, 9/11, the
Great Recession and today's pandemic. Through it all, the
company has managed to stay strong. Since 2005, Muncie
Aviation's sales have grown five times.
The date is significant because it marks the beginning of a new
era for the company. After 73 years in the Ball family, Muncie
Aviation was sold to the employees in 2004, becoming 100%
employee-owned through an employee stock ownership plan.
ESOPs like Muncie Aviation's tend to be better positioned
to take a long-term view of planning, which fosters trust
among employees, customers, vendors and the community - an
approach, it turns out, that's also good for growth.
