SmartSky said the combination of low latency and symmetrical throughput has consistently demonstrated speeds to and from the aircraft greater than 15 Mbps while supporting multiple passengers each with more than one device. The result is gigabytes of data being transferred in what is often less than an hour-long flight. The company's primary focus is on business aviation and regional commercial aviation in the U.S. For example, JSX was announced as SmartSky's commercial launch customer with a fleet of more than 20 Embraer 135 and 145 aircraft fitted with 30 leather seats with business class legroom. It conducts regular shuttle flights serving 20 cities including Napa, Oakland, Monterey, Burbank, Los Angeles and Orange County in California; Denver and Gunnison/Crested Butte SmartSky has obtained supplemental type certificates for installation of its equipment on a range of business and commercial aircraft covering more than 4,000 aircraft in service and has more STCs in the works at the Federal Aviation Administration.
