Currently on the Beechcraft Baron B58, RainAir's avionics
technicians are installing a Garmin G500 TXi touchscreen primary
flight display for the pilot, a Garmin G500 TXi 7-inch primary flight
display for the co-pilot, a Garmin TXi engine information system,
Garmin GMA 35C audio panel, Garmin GTN 750Xi GPS/nav/
comm multifunction display, Garmin GTN 650Xi GPS/nav/comm
multifunction display, Garmin GTX 345 ADS-B In/Out transponder,
Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics MD302 standby altitude
module, and a Garmin GFC 600 autopilot.
On a Piper Cherokee PA-28-140, RainAir's avionics technicians
recently installed dual Garmin G5 electronic flight instruments,
Garmin GTN 650 GPS/nav/comm multifunction display, Garmin GNC
255A nav/comm with a BendixKing KI-209 VOR/LOC glideslope
indicator, Garmin GMA 350 audio panel, and GTX 345 ADS-Bcompliant
transponder.
" At RainAir, we're starting to do more and more avionics, " Kelley
said. " We're working on growing the maintenance side too, and
we're getting into other markets such as military and government
aircraft. The challenge for us is it's hard to find and hire good avionics
technicians who have experience and live in the area.
" For operators who need avionics services now, we're a great
option. So many shops have such an extensive backlog of work
that it's hard for operators to get in for scheduled and unscheduled
maintenance. In those cases, it might take them six months or more.
While we do have a bit of a backlog, we can usually get operators in
much faster, within eight weeks or so. " q
