Universal Avionics
Marc Bouliane, vice president for business
development, marketing and services at Universal
Avionics, presented his company's latest offering
to attendees. " I'm really excited to present today
something that I'm quite passionate about, which is
Universal's connectivity ecosystem, represented today by
FlightPartner and FlightReview, " he said.
" FlightPartner is essentially an iPad app that enables
flight planning, on the ground and two-way connectivity
across all phases of flight with our FMS. FlightReview
is an app providing comprehensive data reporting of
what happened during the flight to the operations and
maintenance group.
" Our connectivity ecosystem is really a suite of apps
and connectivity technologies that brings on the one
hand our avionics - so connection to our flight manager
system, flight deck, CMU - through a gateway to an
iPad that hosts FlightPartner and FlightReview. The iPad
in return connects the data that was collected on the
aircraft to Universal's
cloud-based apps and
services. Then all of this
(is) wrapped in a robust,
cybersecure platform.
" The benefits of
FlightReview and
FlightPartner are really
both for the cockpit and
for ground operations.
For the cockpit, on
the one hand we get to
leverage the power of
the iPad to introduce a
FlightPartner connectivity ecosystem
seamless and an optimized human-machine interface,
so a really much nicer way to interface with the flight
management system. On the ground side, we record and
provide to the operations team performance, which in
turn can reduce fuel, can improve dispatch reliability.
We offer the ability to have remote customer support as
well. It optimizes day-to-day operations by collecting
data, sharing it with a flight crew, being able to analyze
... what happened during a particular flight or across a
number of fleets. "

VIAVI Solutions
" If you're not familiar with VIAVI Solutions, we are
the test manufacturers previously known as JC Air, IFR,
Goodrich, Aeroflex and others, " VIAVI's Mark Anderson
said as he opened his presentation. " We're here today to
talk about our new product introduction, the AVX-10K,
we released at the last AEA. We've got new features and
applications.
" We have a new software update, version 2.1.7, which
incorporates the DME and UAT applications. These are
available on our website, as well as from our StrataSync
application. We push the options out to all of those who
own an AVX and have these options already purchased,
so those option keys should be on your
units, in your StrataSync account. We
encourage all of those, once again, who
don't have a StrataSync account, please
get one.
" With the release of these
applications, this completes the
IFR6000 functionality that puts
everything in the AVX-10K, so all the
capabilities in the IFR6000 are now in
the AVX-10K. Along with the release
of these applications, we have an
equivalency letter, that's available for
those of you who have been asking
for that. The equivalency letter is
available online, downloaded from

" As requested from users like you, we've got some
VIAVI Solutions' AVX-10K
other features that include an upgrade to the FAR Part
43 test report. We've reduced that down to only those
items that are necessary; I will say this is in the next
patch release that's coming soon, as well. We've added

that may not have stood out as failures. "
