standards
free for AEA
members
The Aircraft Electronics Association has negotiated a
contract to bring all of the ASTM aviation standards to
the approved maintenance organization members that
need the standards for the continuing airworthiness of
the general aviation fleet, from light-sport aircraft to the
new Part 23 as well as the foundational maintenance of
electrical wire interconnect systems for the legacy GA
fleet. This unique partnership also includes access to
standards for technician certification.

with a member login and password at aea.net/astm.
After connecting to the website, click on the button to
access ASTM's Compass. Once at the Compass site,
you must register an account that will be set up under
the AEA's access. Once you are registered and logged
in to Compass, you will be able to search for standards
at no cost. q

The Aircraft Electronics Association Educational
Foundation will award multiple scholarships for the
2023-24 school year to students pursuing a career in
aviation electronics or aircraft maintenance, as well as
students from AEA member companies.
Since its inception, the AEA Scholarship program
has awarded more than $1.5 million in scholarships.
The deadline to submit a scholarship application is
April 1, 2023. Applications are available at
aea.net/scholarship. q

What makes this project unique?
It was the first time that we had to
integrate a KFC 300 with a G600 TXi.
It was also a challenge since we had
to interface the GTN with the G600
TXi and the weather radar. In the end,
the pilot got three different radar
indicators: the legacy at the bottom of
the central panel; the GDU at his side;
and the GTN for the co-pilot's side.
Did you encounter any problems
while working on the project?
There were problems interfacing the
KFC 300 autopilot to the G600 in the
roll and pitch signals.
How did you resolve
these problems?
By working together with technical
support from Honeywell/BendixKing,
Mid-Continent Instruments and
Avionics, and Garmin.
What did you learn
from this project?
To be able to interface different communication
and navigation equipment
with each other and understand its
operation in a clearer way.
What was the customer's response?
The customer was extremely grateful
and surprised with the change of
the flight deck; it exceeded his
expectations.

about this project:
We enjoyed doing this project and feel
prepared to face new challenges. q
