Travel Grants Annual Fitzgerald Travel Grant The Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections (SPNHC) has a Travel Grant program designed to assist members with the costs of attending the Society's annual meeting. Grants will be available for attendance at the 2014 meeting of the Society in Cardiff, Wales. A total of $3,000 is allocated to the program and grants will be for a minimum of $750 each. Applicants and Awardees' Requirements Applicants should be members of the Society. Preference will be given to graduate students or emerging professionals in fields related to the management and conservation of natural history collections. Applicants from the institution(s) hosting the meeting will not be eligible. Awardees are required to make either an oral or poster presentation at the meeting and to be first author on the presentation. Receipt of the grant is contingent on the acceptance of the applicant's abstract by the meeting local committee. As part of the conditions of the grant, successful applicants will also be required to produce a short article (1,000 words) based on their presentation for publication in the SPNHC Newsletter. Annual Christine Allen Travel Grant The Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections (SPNHC) has a Travel Grant program designed to assist members with the costs of attending the Society's annual meeting. The Christine Allen Travel Grant is in memory of Christine Allen, who worked for University Products, Gaylord Bros and Hollinger Metal Edge during her long career in museum support. She was a long time member and supporter of the Society and worked tirelessly with many of us to ensure that the products marketed by her companies reflected the needs articulated by our membership. The grant is funded by her three former employers. A single grant of $750 will be available for attendance at the 2014 meeting of the Society in Cardiff, Wales. Applicants from the institution(s) hosting the meeting will not be eligible.
