Social Events

Our planned social events include an icebreaker reception at
the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh on Monday night. On
Tuesday there will be the emerging professionals luncheon
and an evening at Ceilidh in The Hub https://en.wikipedia.
org/wiki/The_Hub,_Edinburgh (numbers limited!). Wednesday we will have sponsors drinks followed by a pub quiz, and
on Thursday evening there will be the conference dinner in
the Museum of Scotland's Grand Gallery where the soaring
glass atrium and sweeping staircases provide a breath-taking
backdrop.

Fieldtrips

Fieldtrips will be held on Saturday, June 13, and are a fantastic opportunity to explore Edinburgh and its surrounding
areas.
Outlander Explorer - A One Day Tour
with Highland Explorer Tours
Imagine walking in the footsteps of Jamie and Claire from
the hit series Outlander, with a local Scottish Guide regaling
all the gruesome history and stories that made this an epic
hit. We take you on a journey to some of the most famous
scenes from the hit series such as Midhope Castle the real-life
Lallybroch, Doune Castle, the seat of Clan MacKenzie and
Linlithgow Palace used as Wentworth Prison. Your guide will
give you an insight into the history and stories of each location, making this the perfect trip for those looking for a quick
Outlander fix.
Edinburgh Walking Tour 1: Edinburgh Rocks: a walk
through a billion years of Earth History
An easy walk around the city of Edinburgh, that starts with
spectacular views across to Arthur's Seat and Salisbury Crags
from Calton Hill, followed by a wind through a number of
sites where rocks from across Scotland have been incorporated into monuments and buildings, including the Scottish
Parliament and Our Dynamic Earth. The tour ends at the
secluded Hutton Memorial Garden that lies close to the site of
the home of the prominent Scottish geologist James Hutton.

Dawyck Botanic Garden & Rosslyn Chapel
One hour from Edinburgh, nestled in the picturesque Scottish Borders is Dawyck Botanic Garden. Enjoy a guided tour
around Dawyck with free time to follow one of the self-guided tours, visit the shop or have lunch in the onsite cafe. On
the return to Edinburgh, we will stop off at Rosslyn Chapel
for tour learning about the Chapel history, the family's story
and highlight some of the key carvings. There will also be
time to explore on your own or visit the shop and cafe.

Dawyck Botanic Garden Tour: One of the world's finest
arboretums with seasonal displays of exotic and native trees
and plants that provide a breathtaking backdrop of colour.
The walking tour will last up to 90 minutes highlighting some
of the history of the garden and living collection which dates
back over 360 years. Three families with an enthusiasm for
collecting and growing exotic and native species created
the backbone of this unique living collection prior to Royal
Botanic Garden Edinburgh taking over the Stewardship in
1978. Under the RBGE the garden and living collection has
continued to grow and develop, Dawyck Botanic Garden
was the first to have a Cryptogamic sanctuary and was also
