"We want the farm to continue beyond us," Bailey said. "So financial stability, with the help of crop insurance, is crucial for long-term planning."

Luke Gianforte's father started the farm located in Cazenovia in 1969. And
since 1996, the family has grown only certified organic crops such as corn,
soybeans, triticale, barley, and oats.
"We grow a lot of food grade products that go directly to New York City,
since we are so close," he said. "It's really cool to have a friend in Brooklyn
send a picture of a product that has our farm name on it."
But lately the weather in Central New York has become a lot more
unpredictable.
"Spring was really wet this year," he said. "So, the prevented planting protection we have from crop insurance was very important."
Trying to navigate the ups and downs of American agriculture can be difficult. And that's why Gianforte wouldn't farm without the protection crop
insurance provides.
"Crop insurance allows us to mitigate risk and the variability in weather.
Crop insurance takes out some of the really deep lows and helps us keep our
heads above water."
