Some of the ways Corteva is combating problems
with diversity are providing opportunities
to make the company's workforce more diverse
and creating social communities internally that
aren't only work related but are also about what is
important to the employees. Corteva is also doing
things such as allocating dollars with a deeper
purpose, establishing shared objectives with
stakeholders, serving as conveners, and lifting
every voice.
" We know that we're new at this and we may
not get it right, " stated Gutter. " But maybe you
can learn from our experiences. "
David Zanoni, Chief of the Requirement
Dean Strasser, NCIS, provided an update on changes and additions to the actuarial documents.
" Last year, our country went through major
conversations around race and equity. Those
conversations continue to this day. Corteva Agriscience
too, has been impacted by those major
conversations, " said Gutter.
Gutter later shared what Corteva is doing to
Analysis and Validation Branch at RMA, spoke
about USDA's diversity initiatives. RMA has implemented
new research to identify why some
farmers choose not to participate in crop insurance
and where they are located. As of now, the
research is primarily collecting data as the Biden
administration supports data driven research
and initiatives. The end goal of the research is to
find ways to make sure crop insurance is available
to everyone and the gaps are lessened.
In another presentation about the Pandemic
Cover Crop Program (PCCP), Zanoni said that
more than 14 million acres of cover crops were
certified in the past year. The USDA wants to support
those who continue using climate-smart agricultural
practices despite the financial hardship
of the pandemic. PCCP provides $5 per acre on
land planted with a cover crop and the acres are
reported as a cover crop via FSA-758. The benefit
does not come as a direct check, but rather a
