TODAYcrop insurance Pat Flanagan Given Industry Leadership Award Pat Flanagan Kim Gibson (right), NAU Country, presented the award to Pat’s wife, Walleyne, in early April, at her home in Fort Benton, Mont. Pat Flanagan, NAU Country Insurance, is the recipient of the 2012 Crop Insurance Industry Leadership Award. Pat passed away on December 27, 2011, after a long battle with cancer. Kim Gibson, NAU Country Insurance, accepted the award on behalf of Pat and his family during the 2012 Crop Insurance Industry Annual Convention. This award is given to individuals who are directly involved in the crop insurance industry and who consistently serve the industry by providing outstanding leadership. Pat began his adjusting career in 1992 where he learned the skills needed to adjust both crop hail and MPCI claims, later becoming a valued claims supervisor based on his leadership abilities. As a retired school teacher and counselor who taught for many years in Montana, he believed that by helping people learn you provide them with more than just an education, you provide them with a future. One of Pat’s many attributes was his ability to listen and communicate with concern for all parties involved in order to find the best solution or course of action. He became very active in NCIS regional/state committees in 1997 and served as Chairman of the Montana Regional/State Committee in 2004 & 2005. He always devoted time and effort for these committee activities and felt that by working with the industry as a whole, we were all better served than putting yourself or individual company ahead of the industry. Pat did know that he was the recipient of this award before he passed away, and was thankful for the recognition but even more thankful for the people he met and worked with in the crop insurance industry. 34 MAY 2012
