CSA in Paradise: The Fall
Conference on Kauai
By	Ronald	Pearl,	MD,	PhD

O

ur CSA Fall Conference this year was held at the Grand
Hyatt Resort and Spa on the beautiful island of Kauai,
Hawaii's Garden Isle. The educational mission of the CSA
is to provide relevant, timely, high-quality education to
anesthesia professionals from California and all over the
world that will allow them to deliver exceptional patient
care. The meeting faculty included international experts
from a wide range of subspecialties within anesthesiology
who presented the latest information relevant to our
practice. The curriculum also focused on the expanding role
of the anesthesiologist in perioperative care.
This year's meeting was sold out, and the enthusiastic
audience of over 270 attendees included members of the
CSA and anesthesia providers from throughout the United
States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and the
Pacific Rim. For some, this was their first CSA Hawaii
meeting, but many attend on a repeating basis to enjoy the
consistently high-quality of speakers and presentations
provided. Although most attendees were practicing
physician anesthesiologists, the attendees also included
residents, fellows, anesthesiologist assistants, and nurse
anesthetists.
