UCLA residents in support of the PLTW Biomedical
Medical curriculum at three local high schools. She
assumed the program coordinator position from
Christine Nguyen Buckley, MD, who helped established
the first CSA/PLTW partnership at UCLA in 2017. Dr.
Poorsattar worked diligently to coordinate virtual
visits with the students showcasing anesthesiology
practices and highlighting various medical careers.
Felipe Perez, MD, FAAP, FASA
Dr. Perez has multiple roles with CSA. He serves
as the program coordinator for the second CSA/
PLTW partnership established at Stanford in 2018.
In addition to coordinating in-person and virtual
visits by residents and faculty and inspiring high
school students with his engaging personality, Dr.
Perez works to actively engage local legislators and
their district staffs in support of CSA's work with
the schools. Dr. Perez also serves as chair of CSA's
Legislative Affairs Committee, facilitating the review
of state legislation CSA is monitoring at the State
Capitol in partnership with CSA's LPAD Chair and
lobbyist. As an indication of his effectiveness, Dr.
Perez was recently appointed Assistant Dean for
Diversity in Medical Student Education in the Office
of Diversity in Medical Education (ODME) at Stanford
University School of Medicine. Below is a link to a CSA

Reihaneh
Forghany, MD
Dr. Forghany is an attending physician at UC Davis
and faculty member within the Department of
Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine. She
completed her residency and fellowship at UC Davis.
Dr. Forghany has assumed the role of program
coordinator for CSA's third PLTW partnership. After
plans to establish a new partnership stalled in early
2020 at the beginning of the COVID pandemic, Dr.
Forghany has worked diligently to engage with the
teachers at three local high schools to make plans for
2022, including classroom visits, a visit to the medical
center's simulation lab, and a launch event with
students, teachers, school and district leaders, and
physician leaders from UC Davis and CSA. She has
also worked in partnership with Dr. Perez at Stanford
to inform her UC Davis peers about the benefits of the
PLTW partnership and recruit them to actively engage
in the effort. As a resident, Dr. Forghany was an active
participant in CSA and ASA advocacy activities at the
state and federal levels.
Odi Ehie, MD
A Clinical Professor at UCSF, Dr. Ehie has chaired the
CSA's Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
(DEI) since July of 2020 and, in partnership with
CSA leaders, has led CSA's efforts to ensure CSA,
its members and practice groups actively facilitate
opportunities for all to the benefit of patients,
practice groups and health systems. Thanks in
part to her leadership at CSA, Dr. Ehie was recently
appointed Vice Chair for Diversity, Equity, and
Inclusion for the UCSF's Department of Anesthesia
and Perioperative Care. In the past year, Dr. Ehie has
also worked with a UCSF Center for Global Surgery
and Health Equity team to build a health equity
curriculum for anesthesia and surgery residents,
