Club Notes T The Venice Doll Club he Venice Doll Club of Florida gathered at the Jacaranda Library in Venice to set up a display called "A Tribute to Shirley Temple Black." Members brought their Shirley Temple dolls, books, photos and other items to create a display to honor a lady who was so important in the world of doll collecting. The club included composition Shirley Temple dolls, 1950s Shirley Temple dolls, as well as more modern versions of the doll. Throughout the year the club also enjoyed a variety of programs presented by its members. In the fall, Mary Falcone taught the members about Madame Alexander dolls; Merle Romer presented a fun program on Little Red Riding Hood dolls; Barbara Williams discussed dolls made in the USA and Beverly Ervin spoke about Schoenhut dolls. In the spring Barbara Jackson staged an Easter Parade for the club's reproduction Bleuettes, Barbara Simo gave a lovely program on Asian dolls, and Betty Trussell treated the group to a talk on hankie dresses. T The Staten Island Doll Club he Staten Island Doll Club held its annual luncheon entitled "Jill's Garden Party," at the wonderful Historic Old Bermuda Inn. Attendees enjoyed a delicious full course meal, favors, door prizes and numerous raffle tables. The souvenir doll was Vogue's beautiful Garden Party Jill. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Families Helping Families, a local nonprofit organization which supports special needs children and their families.
