Getting To Know Our Regional Directors
How do you think your doll collecting
reflects your personality?
I love being "mommy" to everyone, so
dolls help fill that spot.
Why did you take on the job of
Regional Director?
I feel this is my opportunity to encourage
my region to benefit from the national
organization in education and support.
Janna Daniels
Region 3
2014-2017
New Mexico, Texas and
Oklahoma
When did you begin collecting dolls?
What sparked your interest?
I have loved dolls since childhood and,
more importantly, I played with them.
I began to see the world of collectables
when my grandmother entrusted the care
of a china head to me when I was in high
school. I was a sewer so I loved making
clothes for my "Beautiful Doll."
What type of dolls do you collect?
My collection is assorted. I have a
doll hospital and each patient I meet
stimulates me to learn more about these
dolls and to own one.
Do you have other interests that
complement this hobby?
I enjoy sharing my skills and the love of
dolls with children.
Is there a person in the doll world who
has influenced your collecting?
I think members of my doll club
have encouraged my collection with
supportive education through programs
and doll events.
What do you think is UFDC's most
important goal today?
Growing membership.
How can you as a RD help achieve
these goals?
Get out there and spread the positive
with education.
Aside from a RD position, what are
some of the other jobs in which you
have participated?
I have held club offices, chaired doll
shows, chaired yearly Santa drives, and
volunteered at the national convention
every year that I have attended.
As a RD, what do you feel is your most
important goal? How do you plan on
achieving it?
I want to meet every doll club member
I can and help them understand this is
their organization and they have the
opportunity to help it grow.
Are you considering the challenge of
becoming an officer of UFDC in the
future?
No not at this time. I love being a
worker bee.
What do you think UFDC's priorities
should be for the next five years?
We need to strengthen our membership
and make that membership feel it is
valued.

Dakota, South Dakota
When did you begin collecting dolls?
What sparked your interest?
I grew up a tomboy, so while I had a few
dolls that I liked (Baby Crissy, Drowsy
and Baby Alive), it wasn't until about
fourteen years ago that I seriously began
collecting dolls. I met a doll collector
who introduced me to antique doll
collecting and I dove in head-first.
What type of dolls do you collect?
Eclectic best describes my collection
- from fine French bebes, to early
primitive dolls to modern. If a doll
speaks to me, it is likely coming home.
Do you have other interests that
complement this hobby?
Among other things, my husband and I
collect RS Prussia porcelain. I was drawn
to the idea that artists in the Thuringia
region of Germany were making dolls in
one factory and fine porcelain in another.
We have many antique children's tea sets
that are a nice complement to the dolls
and it seemed like a natural progression
into the doll world.
