She had been making porcelain dolls, as well as their wigs, using mohair
as her first choice. She contacted the Monique Trading Company, whom
she helped into the BJD world, and found a source for Japanese synthetic
mohair and "jPop Dolls" was born. The company initially traded in wigs
that work for all kinds of dolls, then added a few BJD lines. Grace, a longtime fan of Kaye's dolls, brought Kaye into the company.
In about 2009, the pair teamed up to produce BJDs in China, where
many of these dolls are made. So many beautiful dolls resulted from
this partnership, not only Layla, but the first BJD manufactured by jPop,
"Annabella." Other dolls include, "Nyssa," "Layla" (named after Grace's
daughter), "Laryssa," "Yani" and "Maurice."
Then came "Hope." In Kaye's own words: "'HOPE' was made to raise
money for a Charity called 'Three Angels Nepal.' 'Hope' was our biggest
ever seller and we raised approximately $90,000 US Dollars!! The support
we got from collectors when selling 'Hope' was overwhelming and made
me so happy and grateful to be able to be part of this. The money was used to help rescue
young girls who were abducted and abused by setting up manned booths at the border to stop
the rickshaws etc. before they could take the girls out of Nepal. Three Angels also used some of
the money to buy land for growing the vegetables etc. for the orphanage where they housed the
girls who were rescued and they purchased a water truck and water pumping facility so they
now supply water to surrounding villages which brings them an income so they can continue
their rescue work and help meet the expenses for the orphanage."

In addition to her production dolls for jPop, Kaye is re-issuing some of her porcelain dolls
- in resin. These are made in very small editions and are separate from jPop's production of
limited-edition dolls. "Sienna" was the first such doll and proved to be a success - selling out
with forty dolls overnight.
There are more stories to share, but for now more new dolls are coming from Kaye, and
when they do, collectors will rejoice, because Kaye is one of those artists whose voice speaks
loudly to many. And many have listened.
The funds from the charity
were used to help young
girls in Nepal.
