Color Me Barbie! by Krissa Brown ©Barbie is a registered trademark of Mattel O ne of my passions is collecting paper dolls. I accidently started collecting coloring books because so many of them have paper dolls on the back cover. Coloring books are not easy to find beca se they were 'disposable'. Many of the books in my collection are in less-than-mint condition and I do upgrade them when I can. Coloring is an excellent activity for the old and young alike. he benefits that coloring books provide include hand/ eye coordination, fine motor skills, self-regulation, patience, color recognition, grip, language development and reading. Coloring books were also inexpensive to produce. The same book could be sold over and over ith di erent covers. Sometimes the original artwork would be reused just by changing clothing or hairstyles. An early Barbie and Ken coloring book contains illustrations by Al Andersen and Nathalee Mode. 28 SUMMER 2019
