Interestingly Madame Alexander, already busy with her productive career, decided to pursue another project. In 1964, she introduced "Madame Alexander Tots," a line of children's clothing while she was producing the vinyl dolls. "Madame Alexander Tots," Inc. was a separate entity from Alexander Doll Company but was launched by Madame Alexander. This line focused on children's and infant's apparel. Dolls that were produced in the same outfits were the central feature of the Alexander Tots line of clothing. Newspaper ads of 1964 from FAO Schwarz, Marshal Field's Department Store, and various retailers show the clothing and dolls sold separately and offered as gift sets. They were presented as a collection of little girls' dresses and matching keepsake dolls. The most prominent of the dolls used for these sets were the 8-inch hard plastic "Wendy-kins." The Wendy-kins dolls appear in the 1964 Alexander Doll Company catalog, however there is no mention in the company catalogs that these dolls were also part of the "Madame Alexander Tots" line.
