Congratulations to the
Iowa Kate Shelley Doll Club
on 50 years of collecting dolls together!

Doll Club celebrated their 50th
Anniversary in 2019 by participating
is several different activities during
the year.
In June, several members took
a trip to Strawberry Point, Iowa to
visit the Wilder Memorial Museum,
which was featured in DOLL NEWS,
Summer 2016 issue. A large majority
of the doll collection in the museum
was donated by the two Hamlett
sisters, Blanche (Hamlett) Baldridge
and Gladys (Hamlett) Kenneally, both
members of UFDC and the Iowa Kate
Shelley Doll Club.
In July, the club, along with the
Sun Bonnet Doll Club, hosted a doll
display in the Urbandale Public Library
titled "Dolls Are Timeless," and on
one evening, the two clubs presented
a program in the library for the
community. Several attendees where
interested in joining a club. The display
sparked much activity and excitement.
In August, club members celebrated
the 50th Anniversary at their regular
doll club meeting with cake and a
special gift of doll jewelry for each club
member. The jewelry had been made by
former doll club member Jeri Kubicek.
It was a way to keep her memory alive
and share the past with the present.
Marsha Miller presented a program
on Nancy Ann Storybook Dolls and
Yvonne Barrett told the club about the
2019 UFDC convention.
Iowa Kate Shelley Doll Club is
proud to have supported UFDC with
four Regional Directors. They were
Dorothy Hurst, Joy Topp, Yvonne
Barrett, and Linda Beu. The celebrations
have been a trip down memory lane for
long time club members and a look into
the past for the newer members.

A lunch, a Miss
Unity cake, gifts,
and programs
rounded out the
celebrations.
