Meet Me in the Middle Doll Club
First Annual Doll Show in Casper, Wyoming

T

he city of Casper, Wyoming hosted the Meet
Me in the Middle Club and their first annual
Doll, Toy, Teddy Bear & Miniature Show on August
24, 2019. Pre-show tours were arranged exclusively
for show patrons at the Historic Bishop Home and
the Nicolaysen Art Museum. The Bishop Home
showcased a special exhibit of 30 dolls dressed to
replicate the inaugural gowns of Wyoming First
Wives. The "Nic" Art Museum displayed doll
houses from their vault in a charming exhibition.
Sales tables with antique, vintage, modern and
artist dolls, bears, toys and miniatures, clothing and
accessories, and much more tempted attendees.
Door prize drawings continued all day long, and
Carol Chapman of Casper donated several (NRFB)
Gene dolls and (NRFB) Gene clothing to add to the
helper raffle items. Show chairman, Kay Schrader,
arranged mini- seminars and demonstrations at
the sales booths throughout the day. Linda Wall
demonstrated care of doll wigs and Kay Schrader
spoke about advertising dolls, such as "Buddy Lee."
A demonstration on how to fashion a doll
dress from a handkerchief proved adorable, and
Birdie Dapples spoke about and hosted a doll
exhibit on the 150th Anniversary of Wyoming
Women's Sufferage. Rachel Hoffman from "Turn
of the Century Antiques" in Denver showcased
exquisite antique dolls, as well as adding
excitement by videotaping at the sales tables for
the Virtual Doll Convention. Fantastic bargains
could be found at the "Dolls for Dogs for Vets"
tables supporting the Rocky Mountain Dawgs
Project, supplying Veterans with service dogs.
The charity also supplies dolls for the children
of Service Veterans. Region 6 Director, Karen
Allen, monitored the feedback and photo booth,
recruiting new doll club members. Members
of the Meet Me in the Middle Doll Club thank
all the vendors for their support of the Casper
event. Special thanks go to the Casper Chamber
of Commerce for the excellent promotion of the
show, and to Elysia, at the Casper Tribune and
KCWY Channel 13 for their exceptional event
coverage.
