The Membership Committee will be involved in training and preparing Regional Directors for regional
conferences to ensure they are equipped for the event. This effort begins with the upcoming regional conference
hosted by the Green Mountain Doll Club in June of 2020. The Committee will work closely with the Director of
Region 15 to ensure a successful event.
As the Director of New Membership, I represented UFDC at several doll club events throughout the year
including the UFDC Lunch & Learn at headquarters in September, and the Region 11 conference in Baltimore
later that month. In March I attended the fabulous luncheon event hosted by the Land O' Sky Doll Club of
North Carolina, then went back to Kansas City for the Boutique Open House held in conjunction with the spring
Executive Committee Meeting. In May I attended the Doll Study Club of Boston's Annual Fundraising Event and
in June the Annual Meeting of the Over the Rainbow Doll Club of Lawrence, Kansas (a record attendance this
year). I will be attending Barbiecon in Kansas City next week July 29 - August 3, along with Maryll Goldsmith,
where we will host about 300 of their 900 convention attendees at our museum.
In collaboration with the membership coordinator, the following statistical data is provided (as of May 31,
2019): UFDC has 7,704 members and 8,665 memberships. (Because some members belong to more than one club,
the number of memberships exceeds the number of members.) Members-at-Large account for 1,544 of that number
and their percentage of our membership continues to grow. Region 9 has the most memberships with 814. UFDC
has 11 Corporate members (which is nearly doubled from one year ago), there are 31 Library memberships and
17 Museum memberships. We have 89 Junior Collectors. It is important to note that our membership counts are
strong, and the organization is gaining new members and clubs, but there is more work to be done.
Today, UFDC has 433 clubs and on Monday, the Board voted unanimously to add a new club in the Springfield,
Missouri area in Region 5. Thank you to Linda Beu, RD of Region 5 for her efforts to organize this new club. Region
6 gained a new club through the efforts of RD Linda Wall which includes members from Colorado, Wyoming and
Montana who will meet in a central location - hence their name - Meet Me in the Middle Doll Club. Region 4, under
the direction of RD Margaret Hein gained two new clubs including the River City Doll Club and the Can't Stop
Collecting Doll Club of Nebraska. While the River City Doll Club had been organized for some time, they have
now joined UFDC and those members represent true organic growth in our membership counts. These new clubs
are all located in an area often referred to as "flyover country," so to experience this type of growth is especially
exciting. Congratulations to all of you.
IN OUR MEMORIES COORDINATOR
In my role as the In Our Memories coordinator, lists were compiled and submitted quarterly for the column
in DOLL NEWS. Confirmations were sent to clubs or individuals, and donation acknowledgements were sent to
clubs, friends or families. We are averaging 26 members per quarter who are remembered through this column.
The form may be conveniently found on the UFDC webpage under the Membership tab.
CONVENTION MEAL EVENT COORDINATOR
As convention meal event coordinator, fifteen ticketed themed events are occurring this week in Nashville
(that's two more than we had in Phoenix last year) which include lunches, dinners and a tea where attendees will
receive amazing souvenirs by our incredibly talented artists. My duties include: correspondence with event Chairs,
ensuring centerpieces and table favors accurately reflect the theme, recruiting hostesses where necessary, serving
as a liaison with the hotel to make sure the rooms are set up correctly and overall overseeing of each meal event.
Thank you to the clubs and individuals who are lending their support by sponsoring a meal event and providing
the centerpieces, table favors, door prizes and other goodies.
In closing, I would like to thank our team of Regional Directors who work hard to serve their regions well. It
has been my pleasure to work alongside such a dedicated team. Thank you to the Membership Committee for your
service to UFDC and for your tireless efforts to grow and retain membership and for all the evenings you've spent
with me over the past two years brainstorming. And thank you to the members of UFDC for the privilege to serve
as your Secretary-Treasurer.
