This early Madame Alexander composition
Scarlett doll is dressed in green velvet with
matching bonnet costume.

Grocery Store" on East Second Street to the nonprofit
museum that opened on July 14, 2014. Across the
street from the museum is the "Gone with the Wind
Gathering and Guest House," open for banquets
and events, which also displays Gone with the Wind
memorabilia. The lot was originally purchased in 1896
and a Victorian-style cottage was built for the B.D. and
Edna Cryer family - until the Rogers' purchased it
and lovingly began a complete restoration.
Stylle Read, a well-known Texas Western artist,
painted the murals around the brick building.
The murals on the front of the museum depicting
the rolling hills and cotton fields of Tara are
magnificent with matching live rose bushes in the
foreground of the paintings. Around the back, the
portrayal of the principle characters in the movie,
the Tara plantation, and the escape of Scarlett and
Rhett from the burning of Atlanta are a preview of
the history inside. The Gathering and Guest House
has an exciting Civil War battlefield painting by
the artist's father, Sleepy Read.
A clear indication of the lasting popularity
of Gone with the Wind is the tremendous number
of dolls created for the movie, inspired by the
actors and the costumes in the movie. Madame
Alexander, Pete Ballard, and the Tonner Doll
Company are some of the doll makers represented
in the museum's collection.

This wall of Gone with the Wind books houses books in every
language and country.

The museum is beautifully arranged with easy to view display
cases and pull-out drawers filled with memorabilia.
