"Apache Woman" with Burden Basket has two sew holes on her porcelain breastplate and is marked "Goodnow." The description for her from the 1982 catalog page reads: ...in "camp dress, carrying burden basket. Her beaded Apache boots turn up at the toe to keep cactus needles out of her feet." She was listed for sale at $350. The care and attention to detail as well as the delightful characters she created show an obvious enjoyment she had in her work. She was a story teller-stopping time for a moment and imparting to us interesting information on these people she chose to depict through her art. I had the privilege of being introduced to her dolls and meeting her at UFDC's national convention in Kansas City in 1982. That encounter made a lasting impression on me. June passed away on August 19, 2010 after a battle with cancer. A wonderful tribute to her is posted on the NIADA website with comments from many of her friends and fellow NIADA members telling of her impact on the doll world and her peers. Thank you June Goodnow, your spirit lives on through your wonderful creations. 102 Winter 2020
