A study group of Ideal's 13-inch Judy Garland dolls 13-inch Judy with press photo and boxed doll (a dimple in the chin), this doll too reminded one of Judy's portrayal. The dolls utilized the body part molds created for the child doll Shirley Temple. She was marked "Ideal Doll, Made in USA" and her size number. Her costume in blue and white checked rayon (pinafore) and organdy (blouse) - sewn together in one piece and based on the Adrian design for the film- was created by Mary Bauer (which included variant costuming). Her handmade and hand styled human hair wigs came in a few styles including an exact reproduction of the film coiffeur. Beneath she wore the standard cotton onesie and her leather shoes varied in style. She came in the standard IDEAL doll box, but also came in a box decorated with poppies (with Judy's photo inside) and a specially labeled box- recently discovered! A wrist tag with a caricature of Judy in character was attached and read "Judy Garland as Dorothy in The Wizard of OZ."
