Meet UFDC's Standing Committees

he UFDC Board of Directors established three standing committees on July 25, 2011. The volunteers on these
committees are essential in helping UFDC meet its mission of education, conservation and preservation. The three
committees are the Collections Oversight Committee, the Fundraising Committee and the Membership Committee.

Collections Oversight Committee

he mission of United Federation of Doll Clubs ReAL Services is to bring together global resources for members'
research and study by acquisition and preservation of dolls and doll-related objects. Integral components of
resources are the library and museum which are open to the public and the archival collections. Its vision is to be the
foremost resource for complete and accessible information on doll and doll-related information maintained in the
highest standards. The Collections Oversight Committee is essential to carry out the ReAL Services mission successfully.
The Collections Oversight Committee is chaired by Linda Edward. The Director of ReAL Services, Maryll
Goldsmith, serves on the Committee and acts as the primary liaison with the Executive Committee. The current
Committee members are Neal Foster, Susan Hedrick, Bradley Justice, Laurie McGill, Alisha Cole, and Bob
Peterson. The Committee makes recommendations to the Executive Committee and the Board on museum
accessions and deaccessions. In addition to teleconference meetings the Committee meets twice each year at the
UFDC Museum for a hands-on Work Week.

Fundraising Committee

evelopment of financial resources is a primary responsibility of 501(c)(3) organizations in keeping and
compliance with IRS status as a tax-exempt organization. As an educational organization with an IRS 501 (c)(3)
designation, UFDC is required to raise sufficient dollars to support its mission and charitable purpose of doll
preservation and education.
The Fundraising Committee is chaired by Maryll Goldsmith, 1st Vice President and Director of ReAL Services.
The current members are Becky DeBruler, Marcia Friend, Michael Giunta, Jill Kaar Hanson, Mary Ruddell, Margaret
Vitale and Sheryl Sunderman, UFDC's Financial Manager. The Committee meets monthly to review the current
fundraising campaigns and to discuss other issues pertaining to fundraising and the needs of the organization. The
present fundraising campaigns are Adopt a Doll, Pay a Day Challenge, Annual Campaign, eBay, Amazon Smile, the
Donor Tree/Brick Campaign and the DOLL NEWS Digitalization Project.
In order to raise additional funds for UFDC the Fundraising Committee sponsored the LIVE! Nashville Music
event at the 2019 Convention. Over 225 convention attendees registered for this fundraising event. Additionally,
generous donations from two donors covered the majority of the cost of the affair, assuring a very successful
fundraising event. This year the Fundraising Committee is organizing a Sock Hop at the 2020 Convention in Dallas.

Membership Committee

he level of membership is a major indicator of the health of UFDC. Declining membership significantly impacts
the organization's ability to carry out its mission and to serve its members. Maintaining and expanding
membership is a challenge compounded by many issues including an aging population, economics, and changing
demographics. The Membership Committee was established to examine issues pertaining to membership and come
up with proposals for sustainable growth that support the needs of the organization today and in the future.
The Membership Committee is chaired by Carol Cameron, UFDC Secretary Treasurer and Director of New
Membership. Current Committee Members are Mary Goodreau, Jeri Robinson, Mary Senko, Beverly Stoehr and
Marina Tagger. Please read the Membership Committee report in this issue of DOLL NEWS. We have a big challenge
going forward and the committee is looking for new members to join the team. If you are interested, please contact
